Safety & Maintenance

Gasoline generators must be operated and maintained carefully. Follow the owner manual and local safety rules at all times.

Critical safety notes

  • Operate only outdoors. Carbon monoxide can be deadly.
  • Keep the generator away from doors, windows, vents, and enclosed spaces.
  • Do not operate in rain or wet conditions unless properly protected according to the manual.
  • Let the engine cool before refueling.
  • Use properly rated cords and never overload the generator.

Maintenance basics

  • Check oil before each use.
  • Replace oil after the break-in period and at the schedule in the manual.
  • Clean or replace the air filter as needed.
  • Drain or stabilize fuel before long-term storage.
  • Inspect bolts, vents, cords, and plugs regularly.
